Call 911

September 2, 2008 at 11:43 am (Mock Turtleneck, Scarf, Sharon Stone) (, , , , , )

Is Sharon Stone unwell? Has she consumed an illegal drug? In a lethargic stupor from too much turkey? Exhausted from singlehandedly curing AIDS? Should someone call a doctor? 911?

She has taken style cues from Matthew McConaughey and wrapped a bubblicious rainbow scarf around her bedraggled head. Apparently, whatever is ailing Ms. Stone prevents her from combing her hair or washing her face. And it gives her the chills so she has to wear a ribbed turtleneck sweater in Malibu.

I am worried she is suffering from multiple personality. Where is the “I-OWN-this-red-carpet” Sharon Stone who can show up even Elton John in outrageousness? Bring her back! We love to mock and ridicule *that* Sharon Stone. It is so unrewarding to mock and ridicule this Sharon Stone.

Bold and edgy

September 2, 2008 at 10:58 am (Clutch, Natalie Portman, Sheer) (, , , , , , )

I am mixed on Natalie Portman’s bold Rodarte dress. It is an edgy choice to be sure. And I’m not the edgiest person you’ll ever meet. So perhaps the fact that I don’t *hate* it is a good start.

We’ve been seeing a lot of sheer lately, and I still can’t help but feel more figure skating costume than haute couture. I don’t mind the skirt overlay, but think it is a bit much on the sleeve.

Overall, I think the look is a little busy to be considered edgy. I don’t know where to look, so my eyes bounce around from the skirt to the sleeves to the cut-outs to the pattern to the trim to the pom poms on her shoes to her purse. I also think that Natalie should have opted for a simpler hairstyle .

Cry for attention

September 2, 2008 at 9:24 am (All White, Deep V, Draped, Sashes, Sheer, Thandie Newton) (, , , , , , , )

It’s hard to get the photographers to notice you when Madonna and Guy Ritchie are also on the red carpet. But Thandie Newton didn’t need to resort to such drastic measures to get a little attention!

I’ll grant that the dress is edgy and dramatic. Given that the movie being premiered is Rocknrolla, dramatic makes sense.

The skirt is just crazy. How does one get into it? It’s like a hammock. Or harem pants, without the pants.

I’m giving two thumbs down to this outfit. As it seems critics are giving to Guy Ritchie’s movie. Can you believe he already has a sequel in the works?
