Didn’t try

November 13, 2008 at 11:11 am (All White, Michelle Branch, Pockets) (, , , , , , , )

Obviously, Michelle Branch didn’t put too much work into her gunny sack-origami CMA look. So we won’t put much work into the analysis.

It just sucks.

First of all- I don’t like Debra Messing’s shoes. It is challenging to make a strappy sandal look like a clod-hopper, but this shoe has met the challenge.

Second of all- I am underwhelmed by the dress and jacket combo. I know Debra ain’t chesty, but the dress makes her boobs look absolutely minuscule. Otherwise, I just say blah. Blah. Blah.

So maybe it’s a bad idea to question the fashion judgement of Anna Wintour. Who am I anyways? But I really don’t like this Prada dress. I’ll throw caution to the wind becuase the dress ain’t pretty. It. Just. Isn’t. Pretty. It’s drab and depressing and it kinda looks like her shoulders are molding.

She also looks like the icon for the ladies restroom.

Did America Ferrera stop on her way to play a little paintball? Or was she attached by swarming hornets?

I love the silhouette of this Oscar de la Renta dress, but the pattern with the beads pushes it over the top.

Annie Hall

November 11, 2008 at 11:35 am (Diane Keaton, Floral) (, , , , , , )

Diane Keaton has always had that quirky Annie Hall vibe. She also has a weird compulsion to completely cover every square inch of skin.

But this outfit is beyond quirky. The Prada skirt is unnecessarily voluminous and the pattern is downright dowdy.

On the plus side, we see her ankles and she’s not wearing gloves.

This Reem Acra dress is actually kinda pretty. And Catherine Zeta Jones’ skin looks absolutely radiant.

But I think CZJ needs to wear a shape that makes her look curvier. Less boxy. And this dress ain’t doing it.

Finally, what is the story with her hairdo? Is she channelling Zsa Zsa’s bouffant hairstyle? Or has she been hanging with too many senior citizens? Please, Catherine. Cut back on the Aqua Net.

November 10, 2008 at 4:07 pm (Asymmetrical, Clutch, Costume, Hat, Salma Hayek) (, , , , , , )

I *really* want Salma Hayek to get her mojo back.

Where is the va-va-voom? I don’t see it in this Stella McCartney dress. Sure, the event had a twenties feel. But I think the color makes her look washed out, the fit does nothing to highlight her tremendous assets, and the beaded skull cap is just awkward.

On the plus side, she has moved away from her previous Morticia-Addams-cover-every-inch-of-skin looks. Perhaps we should just be pleased with progress.

November 10, 2008 at 3:12 pm (Beaded, Feathers, Headband, Mischa Barton) (, , , , , , )

I normally love the flounce, frill and sheer romance of Marchesa, but Mischa Barton’s dress is a tad ridiculous.

Perhaps it would better in a different color, but this green just makes me think of golf, croquet, or any other uppity lawn sport. I mean, seriously. Is the skirt made out of dill?

November 7, 2008 at 4:52 pm (All Black, Clutch, Deep V, Hayden Panettiere, Leggings, Metallic, Necklace, Vest) (, , , , , , )

OK– this photo of Hayden Panettiere really creeped me out. It reminds me of those weird, highly made up, suggestively dressed four-year-old pageant girls. And she’s wearing a leash of a necklace.

Is anyone watching out for this girl?

I like Mischa Barton’s Dsquared2 dress from the front, but am not finding the back photo particularly alluring. Perhaps Mischa should avoid backless in the future.

What do you think?
